The Economic and Social Council is one of the six organs of the United Nations. It aims to debate, discuss and reflect on issues related to sustainable development. It suggests resolutions to problems that affect the social, economic and environmental system of a nation. It offers a global meeting point for all nations of the world to discuss the diversified social issues among policymakers, parliamentarians, academics, youth and non-governmental organizations. ECOSOC also has functional commissions like Commission on Status of Women, Commission on Human Rights, Commission on Science and Technology, etc. ECOSOC is the body that ensures we have social and economic peace.
